Was 1.3.5 supposed to fix the icon issue?

Hi Tristan,

From what I understand, once the file association is broken (i.e. if you've already had both Photo and Designer installed prior to the 1.3.5 update) then you need to at least run both Designer and Photo 1.3.5 at least once and then (possibly) reboot. If that doesn't fix it, I think there's a cache that the OS builds somewhere and a command to run that will force it to rebuild correctly - I'm sure it's on the forums somewhere and I'll try to find it... Hopefully that will have everything working, sorry :(

Thanks,

Matt

Though this worked for me immediately … you might want to try to rebuild the Launch Services database as described here:

You can also use the free app Onyx (http://www.titanium.free.fr/onyx.html) to do that, if you don’t want to mess with Terminal commands. Does that help?  :)

Thanks for that Alex :)   I've also tried everything on all my machines now and it's working straight away - without even needing to reboot, so hopefully it's just something acting temperamental on Tristan's machine and it'll be fine in a bit :)

Yes, hopefully so … Andy Tang was not so happy about rebuilding the Launch Services … ;)

Though I must confess, I never experienced any problems when doing so, and it solved the icon issue in the past for me. Well, let’s hope it’s like you say with Tristan’s machine … and thanks again for fixing this, Matt.  :)

Ahah! Success! I did the following in this order:

1) I did pretty much a full wipe of the apps except for the UI preferences and uninstalled.

2) I ran the commands (see attached photo).

3) Restarted.

4) I installed the apps while being logged in as an admin (not logged in as a normal user and inputting admin credentials to install, not sure if that does anything).

And after that, the icons are showing up correctly on my main machine. We'll see if this also works on my laptop. You might suggest going through that process if others are having this problem as it worked for me.

Thanks all!
