Josh Staiger
On my Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Laptop (with touch screen) if I alt+tab to switch away from Affinity Designer (or otherwise just click a different app in the taskbar), then switch back, then keyboard shortcuts no longer work. Note that it only seems to be shortcuts (ctrl+Z, ctrl+s, V, etc) — I place the cursor in a text box (like stroke weight), I can still type text there, and Alt+F4 to close the app still seems to work for some reason. Strangely, this only seems to be a problem on my Laptop. If I run the app on my desktop computer, I don‘t have the issue. As far as I know I have all up-to-date drivers installed. Rebooting the laptop doesn't fix the problem. This issue appears in every document, including new documents, and I can reproduce it consistently. I have a vague suspicion that the issue might involve the touch-screen monitor on my laptop. No real reason for this other than it is a pretty bad bug and I suspect it‘d be more widely reported if not for something particular to my setup. Currently evaluating the trial and would very much like to purchase, but this is a pretty big showstopper. This is 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10 1903. Staff Sean P Posted September 7, 2020 Staff Share Posted September 7, 2020 Hi Josh, There is a known issue that using AltGr + Tab will cause the shortcuts to stop working. So I think it may be this you're running in to. Are you using the Left or Right Alt (Alt Gr on a lot of keyboards) and tab? If you're using the Right Alt can you try using the Left one and see if that allows you to Alt+Tab without an issue. Thanks
Josh Staiger
Yep, you're right. I've been using the right alt+tab. If I use the left alt+tab, I don't have the issue. Also, clicking to a different app using the taskbar ui no longer seems to have the issue. I must have imagined that or maybe I used right alt+tab to switch back to Affinity Designer. Josh Staiger
Is there any prognosis for a fix on this? Using left alt+tab is a "workaround", but it's not the easiest thing to reverse decades of Alt+Tab habit to avoid killing the keys in my workspace from just one touch of the right-hand key.
