Select first layer, tap last required layer with TWO fingers to select all intermediate layers.

Are you using an Apple Pencil and if so, do you have Touch for Gestures only switched on?

Hi DM1

Yes I use a pencil and yes I have turned on Touch for gestures only

Hi Henk

Touch for 'Gestures Only' does prevent a lot of finger functions on screen (by design), having said that, the Help files makes no mention of layer selection by holding a single finger on screen and I can’t recall ever doing it that way in Photo. The only mention of screen (work area) touching is the use of two fingers and drag to copy layer. All other finger touches for layer selection refer to the Layer Studio itself. Designer allows multiple layer selection by tapping screen (Move tool with Add set in Context menu). Are you perhaps confusing Photos features with those in Designer?
There have certainly been gesture changes made over the release cycle of Photo so I may be completely mistaken. Perhaps the mods or another member can clarify.

Hi dm1,

I use photos for my designs it gives me a little more freedom in some areas,

See attached small video.

I select  multiple layers to adjust colors or even on one line i select multiple points to move.

Suddenly after the last update i am struggling to select layers

Thanks

@DM1 was telling you this way... to see full video go to question mark, in the main app, type selections and video will start to play for you.

Follow the video steps.

Note: You can you use your Apple Pencil. I tested it. But Apple Pencil for the single finger tap part only
Still need two fingers for the final select all tap - shown in the video.

Yes that i know, thats from the layer panel.but my layers are randomly 1 at the top and one in the middle, try finding them.

No before the update i can select layers by clicking on the layer holding 1 finger down and select next layer or anker paint. It still works but more often not then yes. So something changed in the update

Ah... gotcha!

I watched your video again. At first I thought...

maybe because your thumb resting on the screen, was denying affinity of registering your other inputs.

but just before that..

you seemed to be able to select other layers just fine while your thumb was resting on your screen.

I never encountered this one. I’m definitely stumped here.

You probably already checked or did what I’m about to say:

• layer didn’t accidentally lock somehow? (even though I saw you didn’t lock it)

• Rebooted your iPad?

• This part sucks... Save your work to the cloud, delete app and reinstall?

Still didn’t find any solution for selecting multiple layers. As it looks when selecting one layer it makes a square of the area that is selected, if I select the second layer outside of the square it seems to do it but if I select inside the square it will not select. This was not the case before the update.

Have you tried, in the layer panel, to swipe with your finger from left to right on the desired layer? You will see that the layer will be grayed out. You can do the same to other layers. When they are all grayed, you can group them, delete, move or whatever you want. Just try!!!

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the selection of layers by tapping within the layer studio, not the screen image itself.  I ve tried this and it seems to work most of the time. Sometimes needs a double tap.
