Cut and paste problem

Recommended Posts

I make a selection on the background layer and want to copy that selection to another layer and place it on another area on the canvas. Then I want to mirror it horizontally on that other layer.

Not possible in Affinity, well not anymore that is. Now I get a new layer with the entire background image in place. Exactly the same as if I presset <CTRL> + J.

Is this a bug, or deliberate? If deliberate, what purpose does it serve?

If I make a selection on a background layer and go to <Edit> <Cut>, rather than removing the selected area, it removes the entire layer.

Is this a bug, or deliberate? Again, if deliberate, what purpose does it serve?

2 different computers, same problem. What gives?

Check to see if the background layer is a Pixel Layer and not an Image layer. The right side of the Layer name defines what type of layer. For example

layertypes.jpg

To copy selections, it needs to be a pixel layer.
