Affinity Publisher slow, very slow... and dying.

Recommended Posts

Hello! I'm having performance issues on an iMac Retina 4K, 2017, 3Ghz Core i5 Quad-Core, 8Gb 2400Mhz DDR4, Radeon Pro 555 2Gb, when editing our product catalog, with 148 pages and 109 linked JPG images. My question: It would be better to have embebed images? Could this reduce the time for opening the file, loading the images, do the necessary changes and export the PDF?

You can generally check with the macOS Activity Monitor how much memory size the whole occupies from your 8 GB RAM. Further maybe close other running apps you don't need at that time, so the Publisher process can occupy more from the overall then available mem. - Using directly embedded images should usually give some boost for loading up the whole file, as far as there is enough runtime memory available. Having a faster local SSD also should give some boost, when using your project file together with all images locally from that one.
