Grouping changes font size

Extract the group from the Layer>delete the Layer>group the text with the grouped icon

It can be more simple, without a change of the layer hierarchy: Select the "workbench (Layer)", not the (Group) inside, and group it with the selected text layer.

The green text in the (Group) layer thumbnail above makes me wonder about the appearance of a green contour around objects in layer's thumbnails.
The Help doesn't seem to mention this occurrence. Is it a redraw issue – or an indicator in purpose, for what?
I can't recognize a rule for its appearance, it doesn't seem to be related to a current selection.

As thomaso says it does seem to be fine if you select the layer that owns the group, just seems to break grouping with the group itself.

Haven't been able to spot what it is about that group that might be causing this to happen, I've logged it for now.

Thanks for the report, the file and the short video demonstrating it!

same issue, even when I group and try to resize the text it doesn't resize

What 'same' do you mean? This topic's initial post is about erroneously scaled text, not about text which doesn't resize.

I have the same exact problem. when text is grouped with other objects the text changes size (it becomes larger). If I group all the other objects first, I can then add the text without it changing size by dragging it into the group. This happens every time and is repeatable . . . this happened again just as you emailed me

I got the same issue on an existing file after update 1.9: grouping two text elements increase their size.
It seems the problem doesn't appear when creating a new file though.

I saw several posts about this issue on the forum either for Windows / Mac and Publisher / Designer so I hope this bug could be fixed in the next patch.

@A_B_C and others,

We have made fixes/improvements to this area (Text in scaled text frame could increase in size when grouped) of the program in the latest customer beta. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum posts listed below.

The latest beta builds are downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts.

These betas install parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version.

Once these programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.9.1 update/patch to all customers.
