Artistwright Posted August 29, 2020 Share Posted August 29, 2020 Hello, Affinity Designer crashes every-time I use the freehand vector brush tool with my Wacom tablet, sometimes I can draw for a few minutes before it crashes. Mac user: OS 10.15.6 (Latest Version) It also Crashed on the previous version. Affinity designer: 1.8.4 (latest version) Tablet: Wacom Intuous Pro M with the latest drivers (6.3.40-2) Any thoughts on how to fix this? Thor E Posted August 29, 2020 Share Posted August 29, 2020 (edited) Hi, I´m having the same issue. Both freehand vector tool and pencil tool. Can draw for a few minutes, and then suddenly crashes. MacOS 10.15.6, Affinity Designer 1.8.4 and Wacom Cintq 16 with the latest drivers. Quick edit: It will crash if you just draw with the mouse as well. Do you find it only crashes when using the Stabiliser option? Do you mind trying without that to see if that prevents the crashes you're getting? Thor E, Again could you attach the crash reports you're getting? Are you also using the Stabiliser option? Does turning that off prevent the crashes? In this crash log it was turned on and without the Wacom Cintiq attached. I've spent some more time myself and have now replicated it a couple of times, but its cause is still a mystery and not immediately obvious! Thor E Posted September 21, 2020 Share Posted September 21, 2020 I´m saving a lot. Doing some pausing between strokes, it seems to help some. It still crashes from time to time. Finished that part of the project, so I havent used the pen tool a lot lately, but I`m going to need it soon. So I hope there will be a fix. If you would like to try these changes the beta software is available in the forum post listed below. The latest beta build is downloadable from links at the top of each of these beta forum posts. Affinity Designer 1.9.0 beta for Mac This beta installs parallel, next to the release version (they do not overwrite your release) and so the fixes can be tried in the beta without affecting your normal workflow in the release version. Once our beta programs have been through a full beta process the change will be released in a future free 1.9.0 update/patch to all customers. derwok Posted December 30, 2020 Share Posted December 30, 2020 I now had the chance to check the current 1.9 beta on MacOS. Hooray! The bug is gone (for me). While the last month AD crashed all 1-5 Minutes on me while using Vector Brush, with 1.9 beta I could draw for 3 hours in a row! No crash! I have this problem crashing when I use vector brushes with a short stabilizer and opacity/size settings to pressure. Makes pretty stuff but at a price (repeated crashes).
