How to create vector images in affinity designer

Recommended Posts

Hey there, as I wanted to make my company logo a vector image I did not find any tutorial about this theme. I really need a step by step solution cause  I don´t have any experience of illustration so far.

Is there anybody who have a answer?

Hi Monika,

Affinity Designer works with Vector tools by default. This means that whenever you zoom there is no loss in resolution.

It also has raster (pixel) tools but you don't necessarily need to use these if you are creating a logo.

To make sure the final result is a Vector image, make sure you Export the final file to the right format: Eg: PDF, EPS

Hope this helps.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

Hi Monika,

Welcome to the Forums :)

What I would advise you to do is to look at some of our Affinity Designer tutorials as whole as you said there isn't one that goes over vector design. However the tutorials will help your understanding of the tools within the App. This would make the creation and design of your logo easier and better. I have also found a video of one of our users Mystrawberrymonkey designing a logo in Affinity Designer. It may be worth watching that so you can pick up on the tools he uses and how he goes about creating the logo. The second half of the video is about animating which shouldn't apply to this so I would recommend only watching the Affinity Designer part.

I hope this helps :)

Hi Large23220,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
Currently there's no way to do it automatically. We don't have a tracing tool available.
You must do it manually or use a third party app to perform the conversion.

Here's some threads where you can find more info:
JPEG, bitmap, tracing to covert to vector
Image Trace, is this possible in Designer?

Also don't forget issue #1 of Affinity Review ezine, which has a nice article on the basics of drawing with the Pen/Path tool...
