Preflight crashes the application

Recommended Posts

I'm running the Affinity 1.8.5 version on Windows.

I've got a document of 272 pages (5 Mo, images all linked). It worked well in 1.8.4.

When I want to export the file, it shows that I've got errors. When I click to see them, the application crashes.
If I go to the Preflight Panel, I go to my Custom profile (made in 1.8.4), but the configuration window then crashes (crashing the application too).

Hi @Nicolas "Gulix" Ronvel,

Apologies, I missed your reply, unfortunately the files you uploaded expired.

There has been a tweak in this area, could you try the latest beta which is here and if it still causes an issue re upload here and I'll investigate

Thanks

Thank you. No worries.

I've tested with the beta but got the same freeze. The file has been uploaded. Tell me if you need more (Assets).

Hi,

So I can't reproduce a crash but the preflight panel does take a very long time to load and populate. This is mostly because it is reporting a lot of spelling errors, if you enable check spelling whilst typing you will see a lot of red lines. This is because the character language used for spellchecking on all your text is French, but it's all written in English.

I'll look into if we can make the panel a bit more responsive when it has this many warnings/errors to report, but if you change the character language used to English, it should reduce the amount of errors and hopefully allow the panel to open.

Thanks! It worked. I changed my settings to not check spelling (I used another software before layout for that) and change the main language (document is a translation).

It was somehow hard to correct things, as I couldn't access or configure the Preflight settings while in document. Manage to set it while being in another document.

No more freeze and now I've got useful informations on things to check. Sorry for the inconvenience.
