 I would very much be able to have the choice of ‘closing and saving’ a file, and ‘closing without saving’ a file, as is done on the  Mac.  
The option would allow experimenting on a file without having to duplicate the file before opening.  
The iPad version doesn’t allow tweaking and if unsatisfied to just close the file without changing.  Then you are stuck with two files.

If you take a snapshot first then you can return to that snapshot at anytime, might be a bit of a work around for what you want.
