DylanShropshire
Hi there, I was working on a file in Affinity designer earlier today, saved it as .afdesign, as I usually do, but now I can't open it. When I try to open it it says "The file type is not supported." I've attached the file here. Can I get some help retrieving the contents of this file? Thanks in advance! cif architecture.afdesign
GarryP
Welcome to the forums @DylanShropshire This doesn’t help with solving the problem but I got the same message when trying to open the file with Designer 1.8.5.703 on Windows 10 Home. (Tried opening it with Photo just in case but got the same message.)
R C-R
FWIW, the file won't open on my Mac either, & I get the same 'file type not supported' notice. Ditto in AD on iPad. It’s probably looking for something in the header of the file (which it won’t find, of course, if that part of the header is corrupted). DylanShropshire
Thank you all for trying the file. Very frustrating. If anyone finds a solution, please let me know. Fortunately, I at least saved a tiff file so I can use it for reference when recreating the file...

DylanShropshire
Hi @Callum! 1. Windows 10 2. I'm not 100% sure. I was not updated to the newest version, but tried updating to see if that would work. I'm currently on the newest version and it still doesn't open. 3. It was saved to local disk. I also uploaded the file to another location (not listed above) after creating it and both files failed to open. Must have been converted before I backed it up.
