how2basic
Hi, I own affinity designer. How can I take a layer and split it into its RGB channels? This is a very basic task which currently requires my workflow to involve GIMP to create three copies of the layer, then use their color-to-alpha tool to create single channel specific layers, then re-importing those layers back into AD. This process is very tedious. Considering there is a channel mixer in AD, it seems to me like it should be possible there.
how2basic
gentle bump, still looking for a way to do this in AD. Nearest I can find is using the channel mixer to turn down the other two channels, but then you end up with a whole lot of black.
GarryP
Welcome to the forums @how2basic I could be wrong but I don’t think Designer will let you do what you want as easily as Photo will. Photo has way more Channel manipulation functionality and has its own Channels Panel. Someone may be able to give you instructions to use with Designer but I suspect that you would find it easier to do what you want in Photo. I don’t manipulate channels much myself so I could be wrong so keep coming back to see if I have been proved wrong by someone with more knowledge on the subject.
