Gift the App to an Apple ID - How to?

Hi DaLo111,

Welcome to the Forums :)

This is not currently possible within the Mac App Store. However you are able to send someone an iTunes gift card for the exact amount of the App. You can see a post on the official Apple support forums about this here.

You simply can't because the Mac App Store isn't as matured as the iOS version.

I think the MAS doesn't get any love from Apple at all. They released it in OS X 10.6 I believe and never seriously looked at it again.

There are two alternative ways to do this..

1) You give X people an iTunes giftcard.

2) You give X people or the Apple_ID that belongs to that person the amount of money that the Affinity Mac App costs, when he receives the money this person can buy the app.

Both options aren't ideaal but somehow work.

* Do notice that option (2) only works when you have an credit card attached to your Apple ID. You can't give away iTunes credit that is already attached to your Apple ID. So for example if you buy a 100 iTunes giftcard for yourself > redeem it on your own account > than you can't give away 25.- of that 100.- on your Apple ID to someone else.

...in the end, it's not that bad that you are so limited by one of the riches companies in the world when it comes to software tho.. Your iPhone still looks so damn sexy and that's what matters most!  :P

Hardware
 Mac mini (late-2014), 2.6GHz, 16GB RAM, Intel Iris 5100 Graphics  iPad Air 16GB White

Software I love, and you should get

  1. You can gift an app using an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone. Launch the App Store and find the app you want to send as a gift. Once you have found the app and are viewing all of the details, scroll down to the bottom. There you will find a Gift This App button.

You will be provided with a summary of the app; press Next after you have confirmed it is the app you would like to send.

Enter your name followed by the recipient's name and e-mail address. You can also scroll down and enter a note to be sent with the app if you'd like. Press Next when you're done.

On the last screen you will see an order summary. Verify that the name, e-mail address, and app are all correct. Once you are satisfied, tap on Buy Gift. The recipient will then be sent an e-mail to alert him or her of your gift.

You can send apps to friends as gift by going to iTunes. Launch iTunes on Mac/Windows > Go to App Store > Find and tap on the app that you would like to gift > Click on the arrow next to the “Buy” button. Then you will get a pop-up window with a “Gift This App” option > Click on Gift This App and fill out the information needed > Click on Next.

You can also send apps on iPhone/iPad. Open App Store on your iDevice > Find the app you wish to deliver as a gift using the browser or search function > On the app details screen, tap the share box in the upper right corner > Tap on Gift button when the menu pops up at the bottom of the screen.
