wheeleran
Hi, I have affinity photo, the UWP app downloaded from the windows 10 store. I want to change the start tile app icon and the text to bring it more in line with the new windows 10 start menu look and style. I also prefer to old triangle icon. Tileiconifier does not see the affinity photo app in my list of downloaded store apps, so that doesn't work. Can you assist me, please, because the large "affinity photo" text and the black background is not at all similar to the new windows app icons used in the start menu. Thanks in advance,

wheeleran
It's the Windows Store app, so there's no Properties setting to click on, or 'Change Icon.' Thanks for the reply, though!

wheeleran
Yeah, but: it's not a Microsoft issue, it's Affinity.

If it’s a UWP app installed via the Microsoft Store, I don’t understand how TileIconifier being unable to see it is a Serif/Affinity issue rather than a Microsoft one. wheeleran
Start tile icons are the responsibility of the app developer, no? So I'm hoping serif might update their package to reflect the new Start tile guidelines. Edited August 25, 2020 by wheeleran

But it’s Microsoft that determines whether submitted apps conform to their requirements. Dan C
5 minutes ago, wheeleran said: Start tile icons are the responsibility of the app developer, no? Yes, icons for the app are the responsibility of the developer and we've set these with the icon of our choosing - which is compatible with Windows. I'm sorry to hear you don't like the look of the icon, but it isn't our responsibility to ensure you can change this logo using a third party app - especially when purchasing through the Microsoft Store, as Windows Sandboxes the app which makes accessing certain settings much harder than when using .EXE's and this is beyond our control. I hope this clears things up.
wheeleran
Sure. Insider build 20161 released in July 2020 added tile background transparency for light and dark themes. Affinity's is black, and insists on a large title "Affinity Photo" tile text on the Wide and Large tiles which conforms neither to the font size, font family, or tile name layout of windows 10 tiles. It would be great if they could do something about that.
Dan C
Many thanks for your report, I will pass this through to our QA team. 3 minutes ago, wheeleran said: Insider build 20161 released in July 2020 We don't officially support Windows Insider builds, as our apps aren't tested on these versions, my apologies. wheeleran
I understand, of course, but this build, this feature, is coming in the next standard version of windows in October. The large "Affinity Photo" text is and has always been you guys just being cheeky. Thanks for being open to the suggestions, much appreciated!
