I also have been using the inpainting brush for a while but it just stopped working, when you brush over something nothing changes although it looks like it is doing something, if I repeat 15 - 16 time each time it changes a tiny amount - 1.8.4 recently upgraded

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Just like any other brush, the Opacity and Flow values in the Context Toolbar are important. Have you checked yours?

Also, it is a brush, and makes use of the brush you last selected in the Brushes panel. Perhaps you're not using an appropriate brush for inpainting?

Hi Walt, I have just started learning Afinity Photo so its possible I have changed something.

is there a easy way to set ab appropriate brush for inpainting?

I think flow and other opacity values look the same as before but as a newbie every day is a school day.

One of the Basic Round brushes is probably best. Make sure the Opacity and Flow are set to 100% in the Context Toolbar. And make sure you have the right layer selected to be painting on, and that it shows as a (Pixel) layer in the Layers panel.

Give us some screenshots of your workspace while you'rre trying to inpaint, including the Layers panel, if those suggestions don't work.
