andym
Hi I really like Affinity Designer, but I've a small suggestion: could you make it so that closing the last open document doesn't exit AD? Or include a 'Do you want to quit?' confirm dialogue? It seems most natural to me to close the document I've been working on and then open the next one. My impression (I could be wrong) is that most Mac programs work like that. Thanks.
Staff MEB Posted September 21, 2014 Staff Share Posted September 21, 2014 Hi andym, Welcome to Affinity Forums, Go to File -> Close or just press Cmd + W to close the last document without closing the app. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Raskolnikov
I had in mind the same question some weeks ago... now I use "Ctrl + W" for closing the last file... and then "Ctrl + Q" if I wanna close Affinity. Althought I must say that I use Ctrl + W to close any file, because the Tab's button to close every file can't be seen yet very clearly.... andym
Hi (Just in case I confused the issue what I should have said was close the window by pressing the red button). Thanks for the comments about Cmd-W. Part of the background to this post was another program that if you press Ctrl-W selects a tool and if you press Cmd-W just quits. Drives me spare. I know it's only a minor thing but I'd prefer *not* to have to remember to click Cmd-W rather than the red button - just because my head is already full of keyboard shortcuts. I'm not saying that there's an Apple way and should should always do things the Apple way, but consistency between applications does mean one less thing to remember. I hope this doesn't sound negative: I'm really finding the program useful and it's what I've been waiting for.
Raskolnikov
Would be great to have a more visible close button on the tabs (while having the cursor over any of them)... and a button to close the last file if wished.
