Dan C
Hi @Danijel, Welcome to the forums It's possible to downgrade, depending on where your Affinity app was purchased/installed from. Can you please confirm, did you buy the app through the Affinity Store, or an external store such as the Mac App Store?
pixelpusher2020
I have another post about Photo (and Designer) crashing when selecting Print, regardless for existing and new files. I need to roll back to the previous version, but can't find it on the Mac App Store.
Dan C
Hi @pixelpusher2020, Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately it's not possible to 'roll-back' to a previous version of the app through the Mac App Store, as this isn't something Apple allow, my apologies. The beta knows if the user has a valid licence, so it's well within your ability to set up a last good release that does the same check. A v1.8 LTS download would create some goodwill. The new releases always have issues. Telling customers "sorry our update broke this, but hey Apple/MS store so tough" isn't a great look. Have to agree. This does not appear to be an Apple Store problem if Affinity can offer previous versions for download. I saw on another thread that these were available, but not if you downloaded from the Apple store. So would I be able to uninstall my 'Apple' version and download the Serif site version and retain my license? Also, neither of my Affinity apps show up in my Downloads and Product Keys page? https://store.serif.com/en-us/update/macos/photo/1/ Edited August 16, 2020 by pixelpusher2020
pixelpusher2020
You've got to be kidding. Their update broke the software. What's stopping Serif from "updating" the software every month or so in order to generate income then? Yes. I would gladly purchase an older version that actually worked, but first I want a refund for the version they broke. I agree that this sounds like a good alternative and I'll raise this with the developers to see if this is something we can implement 1 hour ago, BofG said: Telling customers "sorry our update broke this, but hey Apple/MS store so tough" isn't a great look. Apologies, this isn't the position I was trying to convey - we certainly do care if issues have been caused from the update and we'll do our best to investigate, workaround and resolve these issues - simply the post was asking to roll back the version and I was answering this only. @pixelpusher2020 It may be best to start a new thread regarding this issue, as it's not particularly related to the above. If you can provide as much information regarding your printer and crashing there then one of our team will be happy to assist. 17 minutes ago, pixelpusher2020 said: I would gladly purchase an older version that actually worked, but first I want a refund for the version they broke. I'm sorry to hear you feel this way - again I don't wish to sound as though I'm 'fobbing this off' - but as you've purchased from the App Store, Apple control all purchasing and refunds meaning we cannot refund you for the app and you'll need to contact Apple directly for this as they do not share any purchase information. I welcome suggestions for another thread to post to, however I don't see how my post was not explicitly related to thread topic. I was not having this issue before the update to 1.8.4, which I performed yesterday. I was able to roll back to 1.8.3 via Time Machine backup, however the problem did not go away. I'm guessing that there is a preference or some other file related to the updated Affinity apps that may be left behind? The printer I'm using is an Epson ET-2650, but I don't even get to the Print dialogue. It's as if the Print button has become the equivalent of a Force Quit. I can export to an image file and print outside of Affinity with no problem. I have not tried reinstalling my printer yet, but I have no aversion to doing that for troubleshooting purposes. I can also try booting to another OS version.

Thanks for letting me know, there should be no file or preference causing this - so we'll need to investigate further. 11 hours ago, pixelpusher2020 said: I have not tried reinstalling my printer yet, but I have no aversion to doing that for troubleshooting purposes. This is the first step we ask users to take, as reinstalling the printer/driver fixes crashing 9/10 times, so please do let me know if this helps. If not, I'd like a copy of the crash reports being generated when the app crashes. Please go to Applications > Utilities and open the Console app. Crash Reports from our apps can be found in the User Reports section. You can Right Click the required Crash Report and select Reveal in Finder, then attach a copy of these reports here. Many thanks in advance
pixelpusher2020
Sometimes a doctor can be an awful patient. Part of my work life involves software support, albeit for a completely different type of software. Getting over that initial 'it doesn't work!' frustration was tough for me for some reason. After reinstalling the printer, I was once again able to print with version 1.8.3 with no issues. I took the plunge and tried again after updating to 1.8.4, and am able to print. I'm not sure what happened, but the problem appeared to revolve around the printer driver. Why it only affected printing from Affinity though is a little odd to me, but sometimes that's just how the electrons crumble. Thank you for your patience and dragging your eyes across my ranting, Dan C. Hopefully others with printing issues are able to apply this solution.
