Rela
This is my first attempt to make a realistic musical instrument, your opinion will help me improve. Thank you Thank you dannyg9, bodobe, Aurelio and 1 other
dannyg9
Looks beautiful. The only thing I would change is the roundness of the body shape. Now, if this is based on an actual guitar shape, I apologize, but to date, I've never seen that angularity in a body. I think the headstock is flawless. Love the nuanced details of the string ends curling and the multiple tuning key positions.
Rela
If you're right, I should have paid more attention to that curve. Maybe I should have focused more on the headstock. Thank you very much, and I'm sorry it took me so long to respond.
dannyg9
Ah, no apologies. It's brilliant and again, guitar bodies have many shapes, although I've never seen one with that angularity. And if this is a first attempt, your work and this illustration will only get better. bodobe and Rela 1
firstdefence
You are doing very well, but the devil is in the detail, observation is key and large resolution reference images are a big help. Never be afraid to use a trace image to get the basic form and outlay, doing this would solve the angular “hip” on the body. The headstock has too much of the rounded bevel fx the headstocks are normally very slightly bevelled, but only very slightly. The strings need to be varying widths to emulate the strings on any guitar, I know you want to make the strings show but strings are rarely white, they are, more often than not, dark and silvery, brassy or clear filament, in which case it would take on the background colouring to a point or have a distorted texture of the background. The fret/finger board also has too much bevel fx The body also has too much bevel fx The decoration around the sound hole is too simple and would in all likelihood have a marquetry design. Keep up the good work. Alfred
Further to what @firstdefence has said, one of the holes at the bridge end isn’t aligned with the others (and there doesn’t actually seem to be a bridge as such). firstdefence
To give you an idea of how to create the marquetry around the sound hole, this is the image brush texture I made from this image... Below is the brush texture that I used to make a textured image brush, I could refine it to better emulate the marquetry but just wanted to show you how it could be done. You are welcome to use that texture and this is the result This is the texture file for you to look at, modify and use if you wish. marquetry texture.afdesign Smee Again, Aurelio, Rela and 1 other 4 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Sequoia 15.0 (24A335), iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more...
