I've been printing clock dials using AD and an HP laser printer without issues.  Using the donut tool, I created 2 concentric circles of .1pt and .2pt.  Recently, those lines have been breaking up between 1 & 2 and 7 & 8 on the dials.  Is this an AD issue or a printer issue?

To my eye it looks like a case of low toner level.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

If you rotate the concentric circles (around their centers) do the breakups in the lines also move or do they remain in the same place when printed?

Toner level is 70%.  I'll try to rotate, although how would I do that with the donut tool?

That sounds like more than enough toner.

To rotate you can use the Transform Panel or the topmost "Lollipop" handle on the donut. Using the Transform Panel you can set the location of the rotation centre by clicking on one of the 9 squares, in the screen shot the upper left is chosen, you would want the centre most one.

I just took the printer in to a laser printer repair shop.  I was told the printer is working perfectly after their testing.  I was hoping they'd find something, but they didn't.  I'll get the printer back tomorrow and do some testing as advised.  Thanks for the help.  More to follow...

Another test would be for someone else with a laser printer to print the same file to see the what the results from their printer looks like. Also to export as a PDF and try printing by right clicking and selecting print.

Hi @darita,

Thanks for checking regarding your printer and I'm sorry to hear this has not yet been resolved.

There is a known issue with certain curves that have been rotated being printed, and I suspect this document may be an example of this.

If you export the document to PDF (using the PDF (For Print) preset), then print the PDF externally, does this print these lines correctly?

Can you please provide a copy of your .afdesign file? Please do let me know if you don't wish to do this publicly and I can provide you with an upload link. Many thanks!

Please note -

I am currently out of the office for a short while whilst recovering from surgery (nothing serious!), therefore will not be available on the Forums during this time.

Should you require a response from the team in a thread I have previously replied in - please Create a New Thread and our team will be sure to reply as soon as possible.

Many thanks!

Got my printer back from the shop.  While I was there, I tried printing on a couple of their printers.  Funny thing is, my printer produced better images than theirs, as their machines were very slightly out of alignment.  They were surprised to see that.

When I got home, I took Dan's suggestion and printed a dial as a PDF.  Although the breaks in the curves were seemingly gone, definition was lost in the process and all parts of the images looked very slightly fuzzy, so that didn't help.

I've sent a couple of files to Dan for perusal to see if this is part of a known issue.  I'm in stand-by mode now, so we'll see.
