Edmis
After last update (1.8.4) wacom pen after press, starts tool offseted to left, this only happens in affinity applications.
JakobW
Yes! Exactly the same happened to me yesterday after updating. It took a while and several attempts at calibrating, before realizing it only happened in updated Affinity Photo v. 1.84 and not Designer 1.83. Reverting to Photo v. 1.83 solved it, but of course not really a sustainable solution. On Windows 10 64 bit btw, using a Wacom Cintiq 22. walt.farrell
There's a command-line argument that may resolve these issues for you in 1.8.4. See, for example, this post confirming that by another user, which also points to a post describing the solution: JakobW 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro, version 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. iPad: iPad Pro M1, 12.9": iPadOS 17.3, Apple Pencil 2, Magic Keyboard Mac: 2023 M2 MacBook Air 15", 16GB memory, macOS Sonoma 14.
JakobW
Hi Walt, Many thanks for your reply and tip. I've applied the solution now under v. 1.84 and it did the trick 👍 However, and pardon me if I don't understand the concept correctly, but isn't this actually devolving the intended functionality of the program? I mean, if I understand right, the developers did away with windows ink to provide a more accurate input solution, and with this current fix I'm basically circumventing that wintab solution to re-introduce windows ink? Is there not a setting somewhere, in Affinity or Windows, where I could disable ink and instead use the full wintab solution?

Glad to have helped. I'm not sure about other settings. You might look at other topics about this subject, and especially for posts by Mark Ingram. I think he's said they're considering some additional changes. They've made several changes/iterations during 1.8. Edmis
for me it seems to fix the offset, but now have to live with windows ink rings on touches. Also maybe not related, but appears to not react anything else except drawing area (layer, panel, tool panel, even close). I guess must go back to 1.8.3 for some time

JakobW
Hi @Callum (on Win 10 Home 64 bit + Wacom Cintiq 22) I just tried the Beta version of Photo, and can confirm it worked for me - the offset pointer issue was fixed out of the box. I haven't done much testing, but it seemed like all tools and menus that I did try were responsive to pen input as well. However, switching to Beta also meant losing all my imported brushes and shortcuts, and don't want to fiddle around with reinstalling those right now, so have reverted to the standard 1.84 release using the '--disable-wintab' shortcut fix for now, as that also worked for me. Let's see if @Edmis is successful with the beta too. Best, J
