Show ‘Grouped Layers as a Folder’

Recommended Posts

Not seeing where this option is available. IPad Pro (3rd gen) updated v.13.6, current Apple ID updated, and downloaded new update from AppStore.

Have checked Settings, prior to opening a Doc and pre-existing Docs...and able to access new ‘Hand’ tool, but see nowhere to opt for the ‘Group Layer as folder’..checked the ‘Help’ which is on auto update, not there. Even looked at Layer options in Layers.

Where is this option located, please? Thanks.

The little jigsaw icon on the layer studio is used to place selected layers into a folder. Is that what you are wanting to do?

On the desktop versions the setting is in the hamburger menu for the Layers panel, and is labeled "Show Group Thumbnails". With it off the desktop versions display the folder icon rather than the composite thumbnail.

Thanks to both for replying. But, the issue is not ‘Grouping Layers’ in general...more then a couple of ways to do that. Instead just trying to make the Group Layer as a Folder icon, not a composite.

As far as doing this on a Desktop..I know the layout is different, so the ‘little hamburger’ icon (displayed on desktop versions at bottom of panel) is not the same as iPad version...and the one that IS on iPad (at top right, next to the pin icon) does not give an option to turn on or off. Nowhere to be found...not even settings (such as Hand tool option).

Still makes a composite

Sorry to be slow, but what do you mean by 'a composite'?

When a group contains 'non-empty objects' for example a pixel layer, a curve, shape etc the Group will show a preview of the contents of the group. On the Desktop the ability was added to always show groups as 'Folders' instead of previewing their contents:
Enabled.PNG Disabled.PNG

Unfortunately this option has yet to make it across to the iPad UI. I'll pass it on to development!

Thanks for the explanation Sean, I didn’t have access to desktop version for comparison . I understand now. Much appreciated.
