mike21
In processing a RAW image in Affinity Photo Develop there is the ability to adjust apparent exposure; in the light of this is it worth bracketing exposures – is an exposure “error” of one or two stops adjusted in Affinity as good as one that is “correct” in the first place. Similarly, is it worth taking three images at different exposures of a high contrast subject for merging into HDR, when just one image can be processed with three separate apparently different exposures. firstdefence
If you get a good HDR then bracketing is a moot point, but if you want to hedge your bets and nail it do a EV0 and an EV-2 I read a post recently with just this advice and a few other bracket settings besides. EV0, EV-2 – for most scenes; EV0, EV+2, EV-2 – for real estate interiors and other high contrast scenes; EV0, EV+2, EV-2, EV+4, EV-4 – for something really contrasty. For example, when there is a sun in the frame along with some dark cliff. A rare case. I’ve done the first and second options but not the third, although I think I’m going to find a situation to try the out, Matlock here I come lol!
