Nancy6107
Hello, Before using Affinity Photo I used Photoshop Elements. It had a really useful feature that I haven't been able to duplicate in AF--Save for Web. I often prepare photos for use on our website and I want the filesize to be as small as possible while preserving the quality. "Save for Web" does that but if I lower the quality in AF while exporting, the pictures are very pixilated, even at 100%. Is there some other export option that would let me preserve the quality while still reducing the size of the file considerably? Thank you, Nancy
Staff Dan C Posted August 6, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 6, 2020 Hi @Nancy6107, Firstly, I recommend checking out the below threads as these may offer some helpful hints - Secondly, when exporting to JPEG I recommend changing the Resample option to Nearest Neighbour and then try reducing the Quality % until you're happy with the file size & quality of the output. I also recommend opening the 'More' options and unticking the option to Embed ICC Profile & Embed Metadata. I hope this helps Quote Please Note: I am now out of the office until Tuesday 2nd April on annual leave. Nancy6107
Thank you. That helps a lot. When I was searching for previous posts, I never thought of the word 'optimize'. 🙂 Between resampling and unchecking the embed options, I got the file size down considerably, but even at 80% quality the 425x400 px photo is slightly pixelated. I'll experiment with different combinations of settings and keep track, while comparing the results with Photoshop Elements' 'Save for web'. Maybe then I can set up an export preset with these settings. Nancy Dan C
