Staff MattP Posted August 14, 2015 Staff Share Posted August 14, 2015 I was going to get a 12" MacBook for my wife a couple of weeks ago and thought that I would finally get to see how it performed - but in the shop we ended up falling for the 13" MacBook Pro Retina instead - so I'm still not able to give you any advice, sorry :( The only reason we wavered was just because the 12" looked so delicate and we've got a 2-and-a-half year old running around the house so worried it may not survive very long! ;) From what I've read, it has similar performance to a couple of years old MacBook Air 13" - which is really not too shabby at all for normal use - and an absolutely astonishing feat given the size and weight of the thing! :) Let us know if you ever find out how it performs! :) Matt InfiniteAffinity 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
coranda Posted August 14, 2015 Share Posted August 14, 2015 I can't comment on the new 12" but I'm running Photo on a mid-2011 13" Air (1.8 GHz i7, 4GB RAM, 384 MB VRAM) and performance is excellent. That's worth the wait in that case :) I'll give a try this weekend on my 2013 Air. 11" is not great to work on design or photos but it can help for a quick job. We have gone through the "Terrible 2's" phase with our girls. My wife's 13" Air has withstood drops, bangs, peanut-butter fingers and spills. Still working great (though battery is tired) for my wife's needs (heavy Pintrest, some photo, mostly web and streaming video/music) I am sure you are going to LOVE the new 13" Macbook Pro. Am just looking to run smaller, and the 11" is too small. I still have a lot of residual affection for my old 12" Powerbook from the early 2000s. If/when I get my hands on a 12", I'll report back. I'm so in doubt by that 1.1GHz processor. It. Just feels like very sloppy and not powerful enough. Like who would buy the 1.6GHz iMac or 1.4GHz Mac mini. Nobody wants them because you don't trust the lower processor to be build for the future.
