Masks are removed, layers are hidden

Recommended Posts

Hello there!

Been enjoying Publisher so much, all my work is done fast and with great quality. However I encountered a very serious bug that will destroy hours of effort in no time, it goes as the following:

Here we have the following master page:

978921140_ScreenShot2020-08-01at18_15_42.thumb.png.975a99634f42a02693f36b9303f2346b.png

I've made masks around every object like the paperclips, the folder, the pages. Then, I decide to duplicate the master page:

After duplicating it, the duplicate removes the masks of objects, usually at random. The mask I made remains but like a dummy, un-cheking it and checking it again in the layers panel does nothing. Plus, this very same issue is applied to the original master page as well:

Sometimes an object will disappear but will remain in the layers panel, not even showing in the resource manager tool. Has anybody else encountered this issue? Hours and hours of work can go down the drain with this issue.

I've been doing more tests and it seems that it can also happen when I copy-paste an object from one page to another and also when I move the objetc, the mask will undo itself. Here is a video:

Here is the file, all images are embedded in it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Zn3rvnSBmNx6d4YY-8tBNBerTTlfZ0Fw/view?usp=sharing

Watching your video shows that you are selecting a group within a group to move and or copy. Perhaps there is a problem with the masks being moved with the moving.

The link to the googledrive says it is empty because it is too large.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.1
Affinity Designer 2.2.1 | Affinity Photo 2.2.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.2.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

The google drive link is fine, I was able to download it. It is too large for a preview, click on "download anyway".

It doesn't matter if I copy an object within a group or an object that's not grouped, it always happens. At this point I believe my file is corrupted.

Thanks for the instructions, the same thing is happening here on Mac OS 10.14.6

I don't think your file is corrupted, but it is just too complex for me to be able to figure out what may be happening. It may be that the layers in various groups are getting reordered when copied or duplicated.

Duplicating the Master Page should not result in what happens with the masking on both the original and the new page.

Hang in there, better people than I will probably come along and check it out and have some actual advice for you.

Thanks for checking it out. I masked the problematic objetcs again and it seems fine but let's wait as you say for a more technical point of view.
