Shape on locked layer acidentally changed!

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I'm reworking an illustration.
on the lower layer is the original shape. the layer is locked.
I am working on a copied version on the layer above.
It has now happened several times that I accidentally caught the lower shape while working on the points and curves and was able to change it ... EVEN THOUGH the layer is locked!
How can that be?

Bug. An annoying one :)

Unfortunately not a bug - rather mysteriously bad architecture combined with no usability experts involved.

Lets hope Serif also doesn't design handcuffs for the police.

I gave up using Designer for hobby use - a "professional" vector drawing program without actual vector features. Customers waiting for five years in vain is more than any company can ask for.

Maybe if Affinity Designer 2.0 gets real and advanced vector features I can it use. Until then... I am a customer, a potential upgrader and an active observer with an opinion. Currently I am slowly finishing a project I started in Designer.

There is a bug where you can select a locked object/layer by dragging a selection over it on the workspace, not by selecting it on the layer panel. It's seemingly a bit random, one moment you can happily make a marquee selection, the next try you'll be dragging a locked object across your workspace.
