How to type through shapes

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I’m new to the program and have a question on typing text through shapes without having to use the erase tool. An example of what I am tryna to accomplish is attached. I’d also like to know how they wrote the text in with the line of the circle as well if that’s not too much to ask.

                                                Thanks in advance.

The text that is curved is called text on a curve, In Affinity Designer...

  1. Create a circle with the ellipse tool
  2. Select the artistic text tool and move the cursor over the edge of the circle, the cursor should change to look like this

  3. Now click on that edge and start typing.

Below is one way to construct the logo, the pie shape layers are set to erase and also in a group to prevent the blend mode: erase from burning through the background. Using the pie shape enables you to make adjustments to the “blanked out” areas of the circle.
