Nita Reed
How do I add color to a sketch in AP?
Alfred
Open the JPG file in APh and set the layer’s blend mode to ‘Multiply’. This will make the white areas behave as if they’re transparent, so any colours will show through when added to new layers below the sketch layer. Staff DWright Posted August 1, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 1, 2020 You can also use the Colour Filter adjustment Erase White Paper to remove the white background then add a new layer below the drawing and then you this layer to apply the required colouring. R C-R
Basically, it can be done in much the same way as could be done with a paper sketch & colored pens, pencils, & paint brushes, except that using layers & other app features makes it possible to work non-destructively. thomaso
@Nita Reed, to limit single areas for coloring you can use the various selection tools. https://affinity.help/photo/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Tools/tools_floodSelect.html?title=Flood Select Tool 19 minutes ago, Alfred said: unable to avoid obscuring the lines in the sketch. thomaso
Pšenda, your link is about analog sketching, not about coloring digitally. – It says it's compatible with "Regular Pencil and Paper". Pšenda
Sure, but for someone who is interested in "sketching" it can be interesting. Interesting feature I would have found interesting for my work in programs like Designer (in the pixel persona).. but why it is only available in Photo is beyond me. In the end customers will need all three programs to finish a project - and an Affinity table to look up which program to find the particular features in. The software continued to disappoint and not deliver.
