ambro77
I would like to combine Ha image with RGB with this tutorial https://astrobackyard.com/tutorials/hargb-astrophotography-tutorial/ (start from Create HaR image). It is easy in PS. I can't copy and paste R chanel to second image with Ha. How can I do this in Affinity Photo ? " To start, bring up the channels window (Window > Channels) in the RGB version of the image. Click on the Red Channel of the RGB image to select it. This will isolate the red channel, and your deep-sky image will appear black and white. Next, with only the red channel highlighted, select the entire image canvas (Ctrl + A or, Select > All). Then, copy the selection using Ctrl + C or, Edit > Copy. Now paste the red channel copy on to your Ha image, and change the opacity to about 25-30%. You may need to move the layer around to line up exactly with the Ha layer below. ..." Edited July 30, 2020 by ambro77
Staff MEB Posted July 30, 2020 Staff Share Posted July 30, 2020 Hi ambro77, Welcome to Affinity Forums In the RGB image go to the Channels panel, right-click the Background Red channel (assuming your layer's name is Background otherwise it will have the layer's name) and select Create Greyscale Layer. You should now have a new pixel layer of the red channel in the Layers panel which you can copy/paste to other images/use as you wish. ambro77
Thank you for reply. I can copy red channel by Create Greyscale Layer but I don't know how to paste and blend it to R channel in second image. Staff MEB Posted July 31, 2020 Staff Share Posted July 31, 2020 Hi ambro77, To copy the red channel greyscale layer, select it in the Layers panel go to menu Edit > Copy, switch to the other image and select Edit > Paste. Finally change the Opacity of this layer to 25-30% in the Opacity control on the top of the Layers panel. ambro77
HI, The copied layer appears in all RGB channels. I would only like to copy it to the red channel only. Edit: I can clear G and B chanel in copied layer. Edited July 31, 2020 by ambro77
Old Bruce
There are a few steps to this. Take the copied Greyscale layer and paste into the second document. Make a spare channel from the greyscale layer's red channel then select the layer you want to paste the red into. Right click on the spare channel and choose load to Background Red channel.
