Affinity Photo and Designer wont launch anymore

Recommended Posts

They worked for a few months, now they just stoped working, they just wont launch, the bad thing is that I restarted my PC, updated graphics drivers, uninstall AP and re download the installer, trying to install again, the installer just wont run either, it just launch an icon that I can see on my task bar, but then closes, no promps error messages, nothing...

Uploaded a video that shows the error happening.

Please help.

Hey pedro.lara.artist,

Can you attach your setup logs please?

Please follow Leigh's guide to locating them:
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98922-faq-installer-errors-setup-failed-installer-windows-ui-issues/&do=findComment&comment=541687

Once we get them, we can hopefully figure out what's happening. Thank you.

Thanks for the info! It looks like this is potentially caused by a monitor profile being corrupt.

Can you please read this FAQ:

So essentially, visit the Windows Colour Management dialog and first, screenshot the dialog so we can see what you were using and then try unchecking the tick box for 'Use my settings for this device'.

I also noticed Photo and Designer stopped launching after updating Windows 10 to version 2004.

I uninstalled them and grabbed the latest installers. I seem to have the same log errors.

EDIT:

I use dual monitors and also tried removing all color profiles. I also tried setting both to sRGB IEC61966-2.1. Nothing helped.

In the Colour Management screen, do you have a system profile set? It should really be sRGB. That setting which I asked you to uncheck overrides the system profile but if the system profile you're using is corrupt then you need to switch it to a fucntioning one such as sRGB IEC61966-21 as pictured here:

Try matching my settings.

@Chris B My "Device Profile" was set to "System Default (sRGB virtual device model profile)". I don't think I have ever changed this. It seems to be the Windows 10 default and I seem to remember it being the same before the version 2004 update.

I set it to "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" instead and now both photo/designer installers run without crashing! Both apps launch correctly too. Thanks!

This must be a new issue in Windows 10 2004, because I'm pretty sure I had the same settings before the update.

THANKYOU!!! I have an XP Pen display as well and this has fixed my issue.

@JamesWhiteRoom

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums :)

I found your account requiring validation (the forums never received proof the address was valid) so I approved it manually and you post has now appeared. Glad that this information helped.
