richardmtl
Hi! I have a shape with several pieces that I want to cut out. I have followed the instructions I found here: https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/119718/why-cant-subtract-complex-form-in-affinity-designer but it doesn't work. Somehow, I got it to work once with a different file but I'm not quite sure how, and now, I'm unable to reproduce that success with a new file. Is this a bug, or am I missing something? I want to cut out the red shape from the white background. When I cut it, it ends up looking like this, instead of the holes being cut out and showing the transparent background: What am I doing wrong? affinity-cutting-problem.afdesign

firstdefence
You can also use Layer > Create Compound - change the Curves layer to Subtract. You don’t need to change the Fillmode with this method, plus objects remain editable, such as you could rotate the curves layer. richardmtl and R C-R 2 Quote iMac 27" 2019 Somona 14.3.1, iMac 27" Affinity Designer, Photo & Publisher V1 & V2, Adobe, Inkscape, Vectorstyler, Blender, C4D, Sketchup + more... Adding slightly to this, note that alternately you can Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) click on the toolbar Subtract button to create the compound. richardmtl 1 Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
