Nwfackler
I create and use a lot of vector textures in my design process. The only way I've found so far to subtract geometry/textures from vector objects (e.g. text, logos, shapes) is to first flatten the layers of the textured group/layer with the "add" operation, then "subtract" my newly compound shape from the object below (text, logos, shapes) in order to achieve transparency through my logo or text shape with my desired vector texture. This is all a workaround for what is usually a simple task in Illustrator, but that's a different topic. The biggest problem right now is simply adding the complex geometry together which a lot of the time takes 20-30 minutes to add together. For comparison this only takes a minute or two for Adobe Illustrator to complete the same task. Is this because I'm using an old Mac Pro from 2010 or do others have this same problem? I'll post my computer specs below just in case. – See media for example of textures. – Mac Pro (Mid 2010)Processor 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel XeonMemory 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3GPU ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Zaughtilo
if they hurried up and released a Shape Builder tool - which has been recommended for over 5 years - this wouldn't be an issue elleirbagluar and Nwfackler 1
Darcy101
Zaughtilo i totally agree I've been trying to do Celtic designs knots etc and without a shape-builder tool it takes a long time to accomplish depending how complex the design is.
