My suspicion is that the Isometric panel should not be available in AP, and the bug is that it can be coerced into appearing in AP.

I am afraid to assume this, too.
It reminds me to the Symbol Panel which has been available in previous Beta APubs and still was available when app updates did not offer it any more.

If that is true, then perhaps the Grid & Axis Manager either should not be available in AP as well, or at least not allow the creation of isometric grids that allow creating plane sets that can be used with them?

Nope. I can use the grid and its snapping for manually drawn items – without access to the Isometric Panel. The marketing idea may be to teas the feature and to make appetite to buy AD.

But can you change planes, like to change which plane to fit a shape to or rotate it in that plane without access to that panel?

Sort of, extremely cumbersome, by adjusting in the Axis Manager Window. Just enough to yearn for more 😜

@Chris B @R C-R Exactly my thought ! How can you offer Grids and the ability to create isometric grids in the exact same way as designer, but then not give the isometric panel. Does not make sense at all. It's the equivalent of me buying a new car, and the guy saying " Yes your car comes with air conditioning, but unfortunately you can only switch it on if you purchase our other model"...

Isometric drawing isn't really needed in Affinity Photo which is primarily for photo editing, developing and touch-ups. It's a Designer feature but I'm guessing the grid in Affinity Photo is more of a visual aid than a 'feature'.

@Chris B, how about APub?  I agree to your "visual add" hint. Having such a grid (+ snapping) can be helpful of cause even without the extra Isometric Panel for more 3D automatism.

@Clive185, in APub this grid is rather like a car without electronic air condition but the option to open windows & roof.

In AP isometric grids could be used as visual or snapping aids. Granted, this would not be a feature usable in every workflow but because AP also supports a fairly extensive set of vector shapes plus the unique ability to convert a shape to a mask or selection, surely this could be useful in some of the more creative workflows some AP users could dream up?

If it includes converting a shape to a selection, how could that be done in AD?
