Text box losing focus when multiple windows are open

Recommended Posts

- open new file

- open another new file

- create a text box in the first window

- start typing

- focus moves to second window. Typing is no longer possible in the text box until it's reselected

- type another character, focus moves back to second window

For more fun with this, create a text box in the second window.

- start typing in first window text box

- focus moves to second window text box and typing continues in this box

- type in the second window text box

- this works but very slowly

Also:

- create new file

- create new view of this window

- create a text box in the first window

- type in the text box

- this sort of works but the focus switches to the text box in the second window

I can't say for certain whether this has just appeared with 1.8.3.

Hi pualv,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
This is a known issue that's already fixed in the current Customer Beta 1.8.4.5 (along with the font dropdown issue you reported in the other thread). If you are willing to give it try you can download it from here. Keep the retail version installed as it's needed to validate the Customer Beta - apart from that they are independent apps. If you don't feel comfortable installing the Beta wait a few more days - a new update should be available soon with those issues fixed.

Like the other issue (font dropdown), working with a single document opened at a time should prevent this from happening. Alternatively, if you need to work with multiple documents opened in Separated Mode, go to menu Window > Merge All Windows, to merge all document tabs into a single window. Working in regular mode (not Separated Mode) shouldn't cause issues as well.
