I was trying to flip a bunch of objects over their own axis and I assumed -as with other transform objects- that selecting Transform Objects Separately and then flip them would do the job, but it seems to ignore it and flip all of them as a group.

Does anyone know if there's a way around it?

I have a lot of objects to flip and it'll take a lot of time to do them individually.

Thanks!

Grab the rotation handle and rotate 180 degrees...

You can also use the transform panel R: input but make sure you select the centre point of the anchor point selector.

Thanks @firstdefence!

I haven't been specific enough with the example. Your solution is great for symmetric objects, but in my real scenario, the objects aren't and therefore rotation is not an option. Improving on my previous example, let's imagine that I need the inner arrows to remain pointing up.

marc, I have only found one suggestion and it works with the arrows, but may not work with everything.  in the Move tool turn on the Transform Objects Separately.  Select all the arrows.  Then holding down cmd drag the left center handle and pull it to the right until it is reversed and the same size as it was.  My video doesn't seem to be loading correctly, all black. So I hope my description works.

You could try using Symbols. This is only in Designer though but if you open a designer document in Photo or Publisher you can still flip the things.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

At least in AD, the two flips & two rotates clearly are identified as transforms, both on the Layer menu & in the main toolbar:

Therefore, with Transform Objects Separately enabled, they should be flipped or rotated individually, not as a group.

I don't know if this should be considered a bug or what, but if it has not already been mentioned in the bugs forum it should be.

There was a longer thread a year ago about flipping etc. and it's inability / ignorance of both the 3x3 selection in transform panel and a custom transform origin.

Thanks guys!

@Gear maker your workaround will do the trick for me, thanks for that! 🙌

@Old Bruce That's how I would have done it but when I started I didn't realise I'd need to flip every item. Next time I'll do that for sure. 👍

@R C-R I thought it was a bug at first as, like you say, flipping is a transform tool. I'll post a thread in the bugs forum and see if we should expect that behaviour or not.

And if you were working in Photo or Publisher you wouldn't be able to do it due to the lack of Symbols. Took me a while to figure it out, one of those "I know I have done this before" moments.
