When I add artistic text to my document, it is appearing completely transparent. The colours are set and opacity is at 100%.

I can copy and paste other pieces of artistic text as they appear fine, so I must be doing something wrong!

I've attached a picture of my workspace below, it's probably pretty obvious and I'm just missing something...

Thank you for any help in advance!

It appears to me that the letter 'g' is too large to fit in the frame. You may have set the scaling to something like 300% because a 58 pt letter should apear in that frame.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Hmmm... How would I go about changing the scaling?

When I go to input artistic text, it appears like this as I am dragging:

I would have thought from the preview it's something I've done making it transparent. I've never had a problem with creating text too big before.

Good catch Joachim, I looked and looked but was overlooking. Also my suggestion about scaling was wrong, the text fame will resize if you scale Art Text.

Have you tried a different font?

Could you Select All on that spread and make a new document with just the two Pages (make the new document 3 pages so you'll have a two page spread) and paste the contents from the spread and see if it is still happening. If it is still happening post the document here.

Hi Ami_M,
With the text selected click the Transparency Tool. Do you see any controls appearing on the canvas? Is the Type dropdown set to None in the context toolbar? Set in to None if that's not the case. Seems you have inadvertently applied transparency to the text...

As already required - the use of the Transparency Tool should be visible in the Layers panel. Otherwise, it is a completely secret operation.
