Garry Gannell
Hello, I have tried to follow some of the earlier posts but they just don't seem to make sense to me. I wish to add an Australian dictionary to my Affinity Publisher. Can this be done? How? Many thanks Garry

Garry Gannell
Thanks. Yes, I read this, but it doesn't make much sense to me, as when I searched the web for Hunspell Australian Dictionary, I get messages about using a package manager like aptitude or synaptic - reading about these it difficult to follow, and I don't want to install something I don't understand. Is there an easier way for computer users, as opposed to computing scientists?

The OpenOffice English dictionaries can be found here, but I see that @Pšenda attached copies of the en_AU files while I was typing. This is exactly the reason why I wrote to @MEB a request to create a forum for the location of functional dictionaries, so that every inexperienced user would not have to bother with it again and again. Unfortunately, there was no reaction to this - both on the part of Serif and other users, so they have to search and download it themselves 😞 Quote Affinity Store (MSI/EXE): Affinity Suite (ADe, APh, APu) 2.4.0.2301 Dell OptiPlex 7060, i5-8500 3.00 GHz, 16 GB, Intel UHD Graphics 630, Dell P2417H 1920 x 1080, Windows 11 Pro, Version 23H2, Build 22631.3155. Is there an easier way for computer users, as opposed to computing scientists? You don't need to "search the web" to find that dictionary. The dictionary site that the FAQ points to has it, in the "en" directory. Look at the en-AU entries. (You'll probably also need to take a copy of the en-US or en-GB hyphenation dictionary and rename it to en-AU if you want hyphenation to work. Garry Gannell
Thanks to everyone who replied. The original FAQ post makes sense now, but I needed the extra help from Pšenda, who posted the actual files I needed. These files are somewhat buried on the link provided in the FAQ post, but even so, I do appreciate Serif's work in maintaining and responding to users questions - this compares very favourably with my experiences with other software companies - and the user community here is brilliant! I can now publish with more confidence - my spelling accurately reflects my location. Cheers! Pšenda
