How does Affinity Photo interface with other programs? Can it be linked to export to or receive exports from programs like Photos, Capture One, Photoshop, etc?

Also, is it possible to edit photos that aren't imported directly or entirely into Affinity Photo? If I'm trying to save space, trying to avoid duplicating photos, can photos be easily accessed from other locations? How about from a folder in an external drive?

Hi @Sunshine_82 and Welcome to the Forums,

If other apps have option to set an external editor, then you should be able to point it to Affinity but you would need to check for that option in the other app you are using.

You can open and edit images that are on an external drive but we would always recommend saving your file locally and then moving this to the External Drive once you've finished and not exporting/saving directly to it.

A recommendation coming from the 80s/90s? Knocking on wood: So far I never experienced corrupted files while not following your recommendation and working directly on network drives (which is not locally by definition). Otherwise I would tend to say that your applications are unusable for a "normal" workflow.
