Find and replace involving full stops

Today I was proof reading a magazine I edit and came across lots of the use of a.m. and p.m. The magazine's style book says this must be am and pm. But when I type a.m. into the find box and am into the replace box, it finds everyhing that is a space m, so eg, a member, a market, etc.  Can someone help me with the correct way of searching and replacing when the full stops must be included?

Click the COG icon next to the "Find" field and make sure "Normal" is selected

Or, escape the "." with a back-slash:

That was the first thing I thought of, but I wasn’t able to check whether it works as I expected.

Thanks Guys. In InDesign I had set up dozens of presets for these sort of things years ago and sort of forgot how it all worked. With no presets in APublisher I have to do it all from scratch again. I must RTFM!
