Affinity as a Suite

Recommended Posts

Good evening all,

I am looking at changing to Afinity from Adobe and Quark after 36 years. I was wondering if there is a Suite which includes all apps or if I need to buy them all individually.

I don’t mind either way,  just asking. Also is the Link a part of the apps or is it a seperate app? Agin, happy t pay the extra if required.

Lastly, are all of these available for IPad, I noticed the Designer one is but could not be sure of the other two.

Thank you all in advance. I am looking forward to the next 40 years using what looks like a very exciting new suite of tools.

Kindest regards, Steve Warren, Managing Director - Cabra Print Pty Ltd. Australia.

We've released Affinity Photo and Designer for iPad. We're working on an iOS version of Publisher but it hasn't been released just yet.

The iPad apps are sold exclusively by Apple. The desktop apps are sold separately via our website but if you email affinity@serif.com we can discuss a bundle of all three desktop apps.

If you're using the Photo application you can use the File menu to switch over to the Designer application or to the Publisher application, if you own them.

Similarly, if you're using Designer, you can use File to switch over to either Photo or Publisher. And in Publisher, you can use File to switch over to either Photo or Designer.

Publisher contains an additional function that Designer and Photo do not include. This is called StudioLink, and may be what you're asking about. StudioLink is different from the functions of the File menu described above. Instead, it actually lets you use the main Persona of the Photo application, and/or the main Persona of the Designer application, directly within the Publisher application without switching over to a different application.

Thanks so much. I will send an email when I return to the studio on Monday and we will organise all available apps and what we might need. I have been with Adobe and Quark from the very beginning of digital design so seeing this evolution is in it self a true Revolution. I am seriously impressed and that takes some doing after so long in our industry.

Hi Walt,

Yes the sounds exactly what I’m after. It sounds like Bridge in Adobe, although after what I have seen of these programmes it will probably be smoother and faster. Thank you for guiding me on this one. I will contact Affinity on Monday and buy the lot.

Kindest regards, Steve Warren - Australia

I would not jump away from Adobe or Quark so quickly. Do extensive tests, run and prep jobs in Affinity and make sure it works. There is no way I could replace Indesign with Publisher in its current state. I am thinking V2 will bring about a lot of much needed features like PDF passthrough. The apps are cheap and worth having, but you will save yourself a lot of headaches by running it side by side your current apps.

Do extensive testing!!!!!
