DrainBead
Any news on this? This is an essential file format that is lacking support in Affinity Photo.
Ron P.
Corel's PSP, do not support AVIF format. However done a quick interwebs search and learned that DigiCam and Gimp both do support it. Stocker.jp
Safari has decided to support the AVIF image format in the future. The official WebKit page says: "Added support for AVIF images on macOS Ventura and iOS 16" The major web browsers, Chrome and Firefox, already support the AVIF image format. AVIF is even more compressed than WebP, so it is expected to be a very important file format for web authors. The AVIF export feature of Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer has become a very high priority. https://webkit.org/blog/12998/release-notes-for-safari-technology-preview-149/ DrainBead, Eagleshadow and All Media Lab 2
ebvoicecover
Echoing the previous post - upcoming support in Safari: https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/apple-endorses-new-avif-photos-for-a-faster-web-on-ios-16/ Would be great to see publishing to AVIF supported in Affinity Photo. Along with browsers, seeing that service providers (storage, CDNs, etc.) are adding support for AVIF delivery, as well... DQ_C
I will add my voice to the noise - I've started to come across AVIF more and more lately especially for HDR, other participants have presented many strong reasons to develop this, while WEBP is nice, it doesn't do HDR so it's less than ideal for some of us. Please don't let this fall on deaf ears, it's important for a lot of us. SPurz and DrainBead
DrainBead
Was taken by surprise to discover Affinity Photo 2 comes without AVIF support 😔 SPurz
DrainBead
This is becoming a real life problem as more and more websites use AVIF image format. While AVIF images were sparse to years ago, they are now the default image format on all ikea websites worldwide and I frequently run into them when using the web. That is a good thing, it is just, that we are falling behind when it comes to using Affinity Photo
DrainBead
Another year, another ping. Will this ever happen? All browser support AVIF by now: https://caniuse.com/?search=avif This is a very relevant format for any web related task today.
