Hi Mary welcome to the forums,

First you should change your user name to something other than your email address so as to avoid spam.

You may be mis reading the context menu, in the layers panel there is a Expand Selection option but no Expand Stroke, that is in the Layers Menu. The Expand Selection is for opening up a group.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

You can do that via the following link: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/settings/username

Having said that, ‘gmail.comMary’ is not a valid domain name, so address harvesters may struggle with it.

Maybe I explained what I was trying to say wrong. I had said I was trying to learn to use the expand stroke feature which is on the menu panel at the top not the layers panel.

Hope this is clearer.

Thank you

You had also said it was greyed out, which suggests that you didn’t have a suitable object selected.

There is not much to learn about this feature. Just select a stroked object and apply the command.
Example: a text frame with the character "v" was converted to curves (> option in toolbar) –> then the menu command was applied –> the result was selected with the node tool to show its curve with nodes:

In the Affinity Help you'll find a bit of description:
