New to Affinity Photo. I Have two photos selected, layers only shows one. Help file says "To show multiple layers simultaneously in the layer panel, select multiple layers using ctrl-click". I presume I have to do this on the layer panel but it doesn't seem to work. There is also nothing in the top layers about this.

Because this is not an isolated case, and because I am not a native speaker (I have to translate the topics using a translator), I was curious, why there is a confusion and misinterpretation of the meaning of the term topic Title.

And your problem - insert screenshot (or video) to forum your workspace (Layers panel).

Presumably each of your two photos has a single layer. By default Affinity Photo only shows one image/photo at a time, each with its own Layers Panel. To switch between the two photos, click on the respective tabs at the top of the workspace. If you want to have the two images as two layers, there are various possibilities to generate a single document with two regular layers:

  1. Load the two files as a stack, You can then right-click on the Live  Stack (Group) in the layers panel and select Ungroup. This converts the Stack to two regular layers in the one document.
  2. Load the two files into the workspace. Copy one file and paste it on top of the other file.
  3. Load one file, then place the other on top of it (File > Place). Then use the move tool to adjust the size to suit.

Many new users have been confused by the Title label. It is for you to enter a meaningful label for your message. If you go to your original message and click on the word Edit at the bottom, you can edit your original Title. I would suggest something like "Multiple Layers".

In English, the word ‘title’ can be used to refer to an honorific such as ‘Mr’, ‘Mrs’, ‘Dr’, ‘Prof’, ‘Rev’, etc.

Yes, just like in my language (titul). But "Dr/Prof" and "user name" are the difference.
In my opinion, the context when creating a new topic is also clear (what kind of title it is).
Thanks.

In my opinion, too! But it obviously isn’t clear to everyone, or we wouldn’t see topic titles such as ‘Mr’ or ‘Dr Smith’ (or even ‘John Smith’, where no honorific is included).

In Photo, on the desktop, File > New Stack could do it.

Alternatively, open one image then use File > Place to load the next image on top of it

still can't figure out how to view each layer by turning off the other one

Each Layer's visibility is controlled by a check box (V1) or round dot (V2) in the Layers panel. Toggling that switches the Layer on and off

Alternatively select the appropriate Layer in the Layers panel and use the menu commands Layer > Show and Layer > Hide

If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

The special "customer service" from people who are apparently online 24/7 in this forum has obviously lost the customer's interest on June 30, 2020.

I am therefore even more pleased than usual that my customers and stakeholders are not dealt with in this or a similar way.

 1) You have completely wrecked the layers panel, Serif.

2) I recommend Reddit groups instead of this forum. Not the same few bot-like users replying to everything, a wider representation of users, fewer fanboys, more qualified users. In short, better!

3) I was here to report bugs and submit improvement requests for professional work professionally in a large setup and to bring a lot of knowledge from the world, i.e. professional product development, web- and software development, usability, user experience design and accessibility. I actually know what I am talking about!

BUT! We are phasing out Designer and Affinity in 2022 Q1 - and replacing it with feature complete and algorithmically competent alternatives.
Publisher is unsuitable for serious use, and was never adopted.
