ianmcd Posted June 29, 2020 Share Posted June 29, 2020 Hi Whenever I bring a set of images into Affinity Photo using New Stack, my 300DPI images automatically become 96DPI. Is there any way I can keep the original DPI when using New Stack as having to manually change them in Resize Document is time consuming. I have tried the various options within the New Stack dialogue box but alas no luck, they always end up at 96DPI... John Rostron Posted June 29, 2020 Share Posted June 29, 2020 The DPI value is normally only relevant for printing. Does it matter what the DPI is whilst they are on the stack? When you have done, you can convert the output from the stack (a single image) to 300DPI. I agree though that this behaviour is odd. It is probably that the default DPI for Photo is 96DPI. I think for now I will bring images in individually and use Copy & Paste to create my own Layer "stack", not ideal but at least I will retain the 300DPI resolution. No need for this workaround. Note that image resolution ≠ pixel dimension. Both can be set independently of each other. As Jon Rostron mentioned above, you can set this value (or change it at any time) without loss. Simply untick the "Resample" checkbox and select the desired resolution (DPI). In this way, the size is grayed out and the pixel dimension remains unchanged in this option window.
