I have Affinity publisher 1.8...  it crashes whenever I try to type in a text box.  I read the forum that

said: "I suspect if you hold CTRL and run the program up and tick all the boxes to reset it that should resolve it,"

but as I am new to this, I'm not sure what that suggestion means. I am running windows 10 on a PC. Another suggestion was to

go into preferences and uncheck auto... but when I go to edit>preferences, it freezes completely.  Any help

would be greatly appreciated. I did check that I wanted crashes automatically sent.

Your keyboard should have a key labelled Control. Before you start Publisher hold that key down, and keep holding it down, then do whatever you do to start Publisher. Keep holding down the Control key and you should see a window like this (I am on Mac OS)

I would try with the top three checked first, click Clear.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

... the key may be called "strg" on some keyboards.

On an English keyboard ‘Control’ is usually abbreviated to Ctrl. I would only expect to see Strg (the abbreviation for „Steuerung“) on a German keyboard.

Thank you for the quick replies. I followed the instructions above

to get the clear user data screen, which came up with no problem,

and cleared the first three boxes (all the rest were already not checked).

I then tried to open a new document and placed a text box in it, but at first,

as soon as I started typing, the program shut down immediately . However, I persisted and kept trying. On the fifth try, IT WORKED!!!   yay!

Your help is greatly appreciated. Now I can start training.  I'm very excited, and again, thank you so much for your prompt response and help!!
