Index and ToC need one frame per line.

Recommended Posts

My publisher doc is over 240 pages (1.6GB) and I have regularly updated ToC and index with no problems. Suddenly when it updates each line requires a new text frame. I have had to load only a small section of the file to keep below the 512MB limit but the bug is still there.

I am using Affinity Publisher 1.8.3

I am on Mac O/S Catalina 10.15.3. My computer processor is 3.7 Ghz 6 core intel core 16.

My memory is 8GB 2667MHz DDR4.

My book was within days of going to the printers but now is on hold.

I'm not yet sure how you did it, but after I clicked on Update All TOCs in the TOC panel, and the problem occured, I looked at the current paragraph text style. It showed (in the Context Toolbar) as "TOC 1: Page+".

So I looked in the Text Styles panel to see what the + indicates, and I found this:

That huge Leading would explain what you're seeing.

My guess: You have a mouse with a scroll wheel, and you had the mouse over one of the studio panels (possibly Paragraph), and were trying to scroll the panel. But you were over the leading field, so you adjusted it, instead.
