How to handle multiple versions

Recommended Posts

I'm not use to dealing with beta software. Could someone advise the best approach to dealing with the multiple versions. Should I remove the previous version of the beta before installing the latest release or does the new release overwrite the old one?

You can do it either way.  In early days of AD I renamed the old versions 1, 2, 3... because I was afraid the new beta wouldn't work.  Then after I had about 10 versions and hadn't had any problems, I said "to heck with it just trust in the AD team".  Now I keep only 2 versions MAS and the latest beta.  I haven't regretted it in almost a year.

Maybe I should add a knock on wood and hope I didn't just jinx myself.

Hi jmac,

When you install the beta it will ask you if you want to overwrite the previous one (if there's one installed). Just say yes and overwrite the old one.

There's no need to keep several versions installed. In case of trouble we usually publish a new beta a few hours later or in the next day.
