I am new with Affinity Publisher, and I am new at writing.  I am writing a memoir that will include photos, and I plan to have a limited number of books printed for family when finished.  I notice that the A4 paper size is recommended for magazines. Can you recommended a paper size for this book?  It will be printed in the US.

Welcome, Mary Ann.  If you are going to self-publish and will be printing these books yourself, the best size would be 8-1/2 x 11 inch because that is a standard paper size that fits any home printer.   It also gives you plenty of space for margins to accommodate binding.  If you are going to have the books printed professionally, why not consult with your printers first about the most effective and economical way to set up your publication.  They can offer you a number of good suggestions, including proper margins,  etc. to meet their requirements for trimming and binding.   Whatever you choose, you should have a lot of fun!
