Robokrabe Posted June 14, 2020 Share Posted June 14, 2020 Greetings, I am a bilingual user and have come across one interesting error related to keyboard shortcuts in Affinity Designer. ''Arrange -> Move Forward'' hotkeys, as well as all other hotkeys designed to move objects inside a layer, do not work properly. I found this because I often used these HKeys. I checked this between the Eng and Rus keyboard settings. When I change the keyboard settings from English to Russian, the above hot keys stop working at all. Sorry, if I dublicate report about this things if any. I didn't find same questions from any other user of your brilliant software. thnx again. I use a german keyboard layout and left and right bracket keys are accessed via the following keyboard combinations: ALTGR+( and ALTGR+) If this is the same on a russian keyboard then these shortcuts won't work. (A quick search on Google images shows that the russian layout is different from german layout) As a solution you can try to assign your own keyboard shortcut. E.g. I assigned SHIFT+( and SHIFT+) and this solves the problem. You assign own keyboard shortcuts under 'Edit > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts'. I hope this helps 🙂 d. I think this really has to do with the 'codes' that are being triggered once a key is pressed. Switching the keyboard layout to a different language basically changes these codes and the keyboard shortcuts in Affinity need to be adjusted to this. You could set up a set of shortcuts with your language and save it as a preset. I think it is not a bug but just a matter on how different keyboard layouts work. Cheers, d. But, for example, I did n't face with similair problems while I used Abode products like Illustrator. Thats why I was dissapointed these things. Staff Sean P Posted July 3, 2020 Staff Share Posted July 3, 2020 Hi Robokrabe, Unfortunately the shortcut does require the actual [ and ] symbols to be used, which from what I can tell is not available when using the actual Russian Keyboard layout. Unfortunately you will need to customize these shortcuts to something suitable, but be aware if you are constantly swapping between keyboard language then it is likely the shortcuts will stop working in the other language.
