More examples of Expand Stroke not working as expected

Recommended Posts

Windows 10 Home 1909, Designer 1.8.3.641 (and 1.8.4.650 beta).

Expanding the Stroke of a simple line gives unexpected results when performed repeatedly.
See video (Designer beta recorded) for two examples, one straight and one curved (AFDESIGN file also included).
I know this is a known problem, just thought I’d give some more examples which may help shed some light onto what could be happening.

I am following the Expand Stroke improvements vimeo video but i can't get the stroke to be black in colour even though the setting is black as you can see. Any ideas why this is happening?

I can make the stroke translucent, but not change the colour

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @T-BONE. :)

The Appearance panel in your screenshot shows a black stroke and a red fill. When you ‘expand’ a stroke you end up with a filled shape that mimics the original stroke, and since the shape in your example has a fill but no stroke it stands to reason that it looks red: if you apply a stroke with a non-zero width, you should find that the stroke is black.

The two red objects have FX applied. If the FX is a red Colour Overlay then that will cover the fill and stroke, which would explain the black stroke not being visible. What FX is being used?
